Here is a tutorial on How to Make Rainbow Hair in Adobe Photoshop. We can change the hair color to rainbow color using Photoshop by using the gradient tool, layer mask, brush tool, gaussian blur. The first step, make a new layer transparent with Overlay blending mode. Then click the gradient tool, select linear gradient, and choose the gradient color you want. Then apply the gradient to the document by clicking and dragging on the hair area in your photo. Create a layer mask to cover the gradient color. To bring back the rainbow color to the hair, click the brush tool, select a soft brush, then brush over the hair. Apply a Gaussian blur to get a natural hair color. 1. Open Photo.

2. Create a New Transparent Layer.

Create a transparent layer by choosing Layer> New Layer, then change the blending mode to Overlay.

3. Select the Gradient Tool.

Click the gradient tool icon, on the options bar click Linear Gradient, then select the gradient color you want.

4. Apply Gradient.

Apply the gradient by clicking the mouse on the document then dragging it down.

5. Create a Layer Mask.

Select menu Layer> Layer Mask> Hide All.

6. Select the Brush Tool.

Click the brush tool icon and select a soft brush. Please adjust the brush size using the opening bracket keys [to enlarge and close brackets] to reduce the size. Give white for the foreground color. Press the D button to reset the foreground / background color to default, then press the X button to swap the color. Now the foreground is white.

7. Apply the Brush Tool to the Hair.

Click then drag the mouse on the hair area to display the gradient color.

8. Apply a Gaussian Blur.

To make the hair color look more natural, give it a gaussian blur by choosing Filter> Blur> Gaussian Blur. Please enter the radius value then click the OK button.

9. Clean up using the Eraser Tool.

Click the Eraser Tool icon then erase certain parts to tidy up the gradient color coming out of the hair.
